Life & Death.
(Past, Present, and
Future.)
No one knows exactly what each day has in store or how long he will live.
Nor does anyone know how long they will live, or when they will die. In the
face of such unknowns, all one can do is live each day to its fullness. Do
not focus on what you might buy if you worked harder or what might be done
if things go your way. And he told them this parable: "The
ground of a certain rich man produced a good crop. He thought to himself,
'What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.' "Then he said, 'This
is what I'll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there
I will store all my grain and my goods. And I'll say to myself, "You have
plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and
be merry." ' "But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life will
be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for
yourself?' "This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for
himself but is not rich toward God."- Jesus, Luke 12:16-21 (NIV)
Often is it is hard to get way from the rich man's mindset. We get so caught
up with being comfortable, fitting in, and looking out for ourselves. We
often forget that all our blessings come from God. When we truly rely on him
we always receive more than we need and often those blessings can be passed
on to others. God calls us to exemplify His love and look out for the needs
of our neighbors. When we do what is right, what God asks, what do we have
to fear about tomorrow or even death. Each day he will provide, and if that
day is your last, hopefully you go out well, living the life to which he has
called us. Everyday is a choice,
"Live well, die well."
But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as
gold. My feet have closely followed his steps; I have kept to his way without
turning aside. ” (Job
23:10-11)
